Stay Safe: Avoid Scams in Event Listings.
Advice for our visitors: Always be careful about the offers and opportunities you receive through email or regular mail regarding trade events. It's easy to get excited and quickly respond, but taking a moment to verify can save you from potential scams.
Many organizations, like International Fairs, may try to deceive you by sending misleading emails or documents. These communications might look genuine, but often, they have hidden terms that could cost you money. For example, they might ask you to pay for a directory listing that never comes to fruition. If such a notice asks you to pay a fee for a listing or attendee list, it's most likely a scam. Remember, if something feels off, it’s best not to engage with it.
Moreover, in some cases, the fake companies like Evettiz may also provide tempting offers for essential visitor lists, which are also fake and can defraud businesses of large sums. Hence, the key takeaway here is to ignore any unexpected offers and to check the official websites of the events or trade fair organizations like UFI, the global association of the exhibition industry, for any warnings about such fraudulent activities. Proactively staying informed and cautious can go a long way in protecting yourself and your business from these fraudulent scams.
